• World press Indian for withdrawal of troops


    ISLAMABAD: The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Sunday urged the international community to pressurize India to withdraw troops from occupied valley.
    According to a Kashmir-based news agency, he said incidents like Shopian would continue to occur as long as Indian troops were present in the occupied territory.
    He also asked world to impress upon India to stop using Kashmiri women as a weapon to suppress the ongoing liberation movement.
    Mirwaiz was addressing a function organised in Srinagar, today, to commemorate the 45th founding day anniversary of the Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee, which was observed as the Women’s Protection Day.
    The function was also addressed among others by prominent Kashmiri lawyer, Nazir Ahmed Ronga. The speakers asked India to withdraw its forces from the occupied territory.
    Thousands of people assembled at Eidgah in Shopian, today, to press for the demand of punishment to the culprits of rape and murder of two women.
    Complete shutdown continued in the town and also in Islamabad, Sopore and Baramulla against stepped up human rights violations by the occupation troops.
    Meanwhile, Veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Gilani who is undergoing treatment in Soura Medical Institute Srinagar has been sent on judicial remand till July 10.
    The High Court had formally issued orders for his release on Saturday, however, the occupation authorities detained the leader in an already registered fake case.
